Sialkot is an ancient city with many historical places. Some of the famous ones are the shrine of Imam Ali-ul-Haq, the tomb of Pir Muradia Shah and birthplace of Iqbal (now converted into museum). About 95% of the total population of Sialkot speaks Punjabi, other spoken languages are Urdu and Pashto. The land of Sialkot is very fertile which makes it ideal for growing wheat, barley, rice, corn, and sugarcane. Traveling to Sialkot usually takes about 6 hours by air from Karachi and about 20 hours by road.
